The Pursuit of Happiness
Written By: Joshua V. Hinkel
Difficulty: Medium-Easy
Copyright clearance required: Partial
Movement 1 - The darkness is a representation of discourse, uneasiness, and unhappiness in our lives.Throughout the first part of the production, there are glimmers of hope or light that radiate through the darkness via Ludwig van Beethoven’s Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee. However, the darkness dominates the canvas through popular melodies that express discourse.
Movement 2 - this production deals with the reconciliation of the darkness or unhappiness with the hope of happiness becoming ever-present. The final part of the production deals with happiness and joy being found, a “new world” being realized, but offers the unfortunate reminders that unhappiness can reoccur at any turn in life.
Movement 3 - The show reaches a fever pitch with the fragments of Ode to Joy culminating in one final push to display the power of personal happiness!
